The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2013

This weekend I saw the world renowned Edinburgh Military Tattoo. My good friend Helen invited me along with her mum and dad to see the spectacle of bagpipers, drummers, Korean dancers, Mexican dancers and the very best of the world's military forces at the national icon that is Edinburgh Castle.

Over the weekend, I went along to the National Museum of Scotland's 'Museum after hours' event. The theme - well there was no direct theme but the Mary Queen of Scots Exhibition was the focal point of the festivities.

Meeting First Minister Alex Salmond and Saltire Awards

Back in May, I attended First Minister Alex Salmond's reception at Edinburgh Castle for Saltire Awards. The reception was to celebrate the commitment and contribution of young people volunteering in our communities across Scotland. I took along Inverclyde's 500hr Saltire Awardees Stacey and Gareth. Once again it is great to see that at the top levels of government, our society is recognising our young people. Sorry its taken me so long to blog about this event but I just got emailed the picture (see below). 


Stuart McMillan MSP visits Trust Volunteering

Stuart McMillan MSP came to the 'Gie's Peace' project at Trust Volunteering yesterday. The project works with a spectrum of Inverclyders to explore sectarianism in the community and creatively raises awareness of the issue through drama, art and media.

The Inverclyde MP, Iain McKenzie MP came to visit Trust Volunteering today. It was great to see how Trust Volunteering is being recognised for the work we do. #sayayetovolunteering

2010 - Volunteer Project Assistant at Glasgow Museums for ESOL Cultural Diversity Project University Placement. Winner of Museum Volunteer of the Year 2010 - Scotland Region, Marsh Christian Trust. Awarded the Institute of Contemporary Scotland's Young Scot of the Year Award 2010 for outstanding contribution to Scottish Society. Detached Youth Worker at Queens Cross Housing Association

2009 - Graduated from the University of Vienna (Universitšt Wien) with a Diploma in European Studies with Highest Distinction. Youth Assistant at UNICEF UK for University Placement

2008 - I gained my TEFL Certificate allowing me to teach English to non native speakers. Volunteered as an English Teacher at Şcoala Avram Iancu High School in Arad, Romania. Travelled around Europe with the heaviest bag ever!
